Awaara (1951) 

As director and actor, Raj Kapoor plays the role of a vagabond in this film. Raj enters the world of crime due to his tough life. However, we see him trying to reform himself for love. But a single case from his past brings him face to face with his estranged father.

Shree 420 (1955) 

Raj Kapoor directs and plays the “little tramp” again. Raj is a well meaning orphan who comes to Mumbai to fulfil his dreams. He is influenced by two women, Vidya and Maya that represent the angel and the devil on either side of his shoulder.

Mera Naam Joker (1970) 

Yet another director-actor credit to Raj Kapoor, this film is about a clown in a circus. The film explores the philosophy of entertainment through a simple golden hearted Raju who makes people laugh despite his sorrows. 

Sangam (1964) 

This film is a musical romantic drama about a love triangle between three childhood best friends Sundar, Gopal and Radha. Directed by Raj Kapoor, this film explores themes of love, obsession and sacrifice.

Anari (1959) 

It is a story about a young, honest painter who is financially struggling to make ends meet. Upon finding a job due to his honesty, he also meets somebody that he falls in love with. But a mysterious case disrupts his life.

Aag (1948) 

Aag was the first film that Raj Kapoor directed and produced. He also plays the role of Kewal Khanna in this film. It is a musical drama about a young lawyer, his passion for theater and his persisting experience of losing his childhood love. 

Barsaat (1949) 

As director and actor, Raj Kapoor creates the role of a casanova, Pran, in this film. Pran and his friend Gopal are on a stop break in a village, where they both fall in love with two girls from there. However, the story takes a different direction once Pran and Gopal are back in the city.
