With Gulshan Devaiah, Adarsh Gourav, Mona Singh, Gagan Dev Riar, Wamiqa Gabbi and Arjun Mathur, Gagan Speaks of The process of finding characters, The advice he has been getting, and that he wants to do comedy roles.
So I call my friends and read with them. I keep playing with the text. I will slow down the pace if it’s getting too fast. If My voice was at a high pitch I would lower it down, Experiment, and play with the text. There is a lot of influence from theatre.
It depends on what kind of character you’re playing. Sometimes the character comes naturally to you, you read it and you know that you’ve got it. Sometimes you realize that you have to do something with it.
It’s a kind of norm, idk why it is or who is doing it. There is no one person but once you play a certain kind of character, i think it’s a lack of imagination or vision. I don’t know what it is. They can’t see you beyond that.
People are telling me to take the roles that I’m getting or else I’ll wither out or people will forget you because today you got up in the game and it’s a fast-changing world. So one has to be seen. Nobody is telling me or asking me what I want to do or What kind of roles I want.
I want to explore different kinds of characters. In theatre, I was known for my comic timing and my comedy roles. On screen, I haven’t done anything which is remotely comic. I only played very serious or somber kind of roles. I want to try comedy.
Thank You for Reading!
