Telugu superstar Allu Arjun won the Best Actor Award for his performance in the 2021 action drama Pushpa: The Rise. The blockbuster film, which follows Arjun as a labourer-turned-smuggler, will be followed by a sequel in 2024.
After a slew of excellent performances, Alia Bhatt finally received a National Film Award for her acting in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022). The critically acclaimed film features Bhatt playing the real-life social activist who fought for the rights of sex-workers.
The Best Actress Award was shared by Kriti Sanon for her role in Mimi (2021), in which she plays a woman who becomes a surrogate mother. Her compassionate performance in the film is widely regarded as Sanon’s career-best.
This prestigious award went to Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (2022), a biographical drama based on the life of an eminent ISRO scientist. The ambitious film, which was R. Madhavan’s directorial debut, also stars the actor in the lead role.
Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files (2022) won the Nargis Dutt Award For Best Film on National Integration. The controversial film depicts, through a fictional storyline, the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from the valley in 1990.
