Horror in Hindi cinema is a rather unexplored genre, unless you count the numerous sequels that Vikram Bhatt keeps churning out. But Anushka Sharma's Pari looks like a rather promising addition to the genre. So far we've been shown only little snatches of the film – a bloodied face or Anushka's character watching cartoons while being chained to a bed. But today's teaser gives us some more to chew on.

We finally get a glimpse of the rest of the cast – Bengali actor Parambrata Chatterjee (who you may remember as the friendly cop in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani) and Rajat Kapoor. The promising teaser liberally uses the usual tropes we associate with horror films – creaking doors, haunting music, flying ghosts and gore – to create intrigue. And it works.

The film has been directed by Prosit Roy who's been an assistant director on some big Bollywood productions for a while. This is his first feature film as a director. The film is a co-production between Clean Slate Films (co-owned by Anushka Sharma and her brother Karnesh Sharma) and KriArj Entertainment. The film releases on March 3.
