Movie Details of Taj Mahal

Music: Roshan

Lyrics: Sahir Ludhianvi

Label: Saregama HMV

Director: M. Sadiq

Composer Roshan's partnership with lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi hit its peak with this historical drama. Given that the movie is centered on love between Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, it is only fitting that the movie's best known songs belong to the romantic genre. Roshan is often extolled for his adeptness at composing qawwalis; Taj Mahal's soundtrack had the brilliantly realised Chandi Ka Badan to reaffirm that claim. Another of the album's highlights was the composer's fab use of sarangi in multiple songs.

Best Song of Taj Mahal: Rafi and Lata's evergreen romantic duet Jo Waada Kiya is not just one of the best songs from Roshan-Sahir Ludhianvi, it is easily among the best compositions in Hindi music. And therefore a fairly straightforward choice for song of the album.
