Written and directed by Amit Masurkar, Newton stars Rajkummar Rao in the titular role playing a clerk on election duty in the Maoist-ridden hinterlands of Chhattisgarh. The stellar supporting cast includes Pankaj Tripathi, Anjali Patil and Raghubir Yadav.
The 2-minute-43-second trailer shows Newton (Rajkummar), an upright moral citizen who is posted in interior Chhattisgarh on election duty, where he expects to conduct fair elections. The reality of the area dawns upon him through his interactions with CRPF commander, Aatma Singh (played by Pankaj Tripathi) who is in-charge of protecting the polling booth and officers.
Newton is presented by filmmaker Aanand L Rai and produced by Manish Mundra's Drishyam Films, which has also produced films like Masaan (2015), Ankhon Dekhi (2013) and Waiting (2016).
