In an event hosted by the makers of Salman Khan-starrer Tubelight, director Kabir Khan along with co-producer Amar Butala introduced to the media – Matin Rey Tangu. Hailing from Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh, Matin will be seen playing a key role in the film releasing this Friday. Chinese actress Zhu Zhu will also star in the film.

Tubelight, set during the Sino-Indian war of 1962, is the story of two brothers – Laxman and Bharat (Salman and Sohail Khan respectively) caught in extraordinary circumstances. An affable simpleton, Laxman (Salman Khan) sets out on a journey to find his brother when the latter goes missing in combat.

This is Kabir Khan's second project involving a child actor after Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015). Throwing light on how the casting takes place, the writer and director said, "Our casting director, Mukesh Chhabra held workshops with a group of 10 children after shortlisting them from Arunachal Pradesh. In these workshops, we gauge the nature of the child, how comfortable he is in front of the camera and an audience, but when we saw Matin we know we had to cast him. His energy is infectious. Salman and Matin got along like a house on fire!" Matin seemed at ease with the media attention and the camaraderie was visible between Salman Khan and Matin.

When director Kabir Khan was asked about his take on war, he said, "War is created by politics, not people. When there is human interaction, there can't be any hostility and we have tried to showcase that in Bajrangi Bhaijaan as well."

Talking about the potential release of the film in China post the stupendous success of Dangal (2016), co-producer Amar Butala said, "The process of releasing films is different in China, where a quota system is in place for the number of foreign films that can release. We are trying our best to get a release in China as well." Elaborating on the release in India, he added, "Tubelight will be Salman's biggest release hitting over 3500 screens domestically and 950 screens overseas."
