In just 43 minutes, Neeraj Ghaywan told the gripping story of a friendship that tenderly develops between two women from opposite ends of the social spectrum, only to eventually curdle and morph into something sinister. His two-hander, Geeli Pucchi, was backed by fantastic performances by Konkona Sensharma as Bharti, a queer Dalit factory worker, and Aditi Rao Hydari as Priya, an upper-class woman who lacks Bharti's skills but lands the desk job she covets. The filmmaker expertly evokes sympathy and invites judgment for both characters in this deliciously unpredictable short film, part of the Netflix anthology Ajeeb Daastaans, produced by Karan Johar's Dharmatic.
