In 2018, production designer Mohan Das quite literally set the stage for deeply affecting, carefully crafted chaos. Despite a modest budget, he brought thunderous scale to the traumatic story of the harrowing 2018 Kerala floods. Aside from submerging us in the harrowing floods themselves, his immersive artistry was instrumental in enabling a story of heroism, humanity and resilience. It’s the kind of filmmaking ingenuity that leaves the audience in awe of how they were able to pull this off.
