Queen Charlotte is a spin-off series from the popular Netflix show Bridgerton and reimagines the backstory of Queen Charlotte (India Ria Amarteifio), played by Golda Rosheuvel in Bridgerton and an actual queen of Great Britain from 1761 to 1818. She was married to King George III, played by the delicious Corey Mylchreest in the show, and the series uses their relationship to talk about the challenges of mental illness and the shame that comes with it. Showrunner Shonda Rhimes also gives us a queer love story and friendship between older women (look out for the episode about “gardens in bloom”).
