In the age of hybrid workforces, many more of us are relying on streaming platforms in search of distraction, escape or just plain entertainment. With a new month comes new possibilities, talent, collaborations and shiny new releases for us to get lost in. From the Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special on DisneyPlus Hotstar, to Harry Styles starrer My Policeman on Amazon Prime Video, here is a list of what's releasing this month across platforms.

Netflix

Blockbuster

When: November 3

The workplace comedy series, starring Randall Park and Melissa Fumero, is set inside the last Blockbuster Video store and attempts to understand what goes into keeping a small business afloat.

Enola Holmes 2

When: November 4

The sequel to the 2000 mystery film, based on Nancy Springer’s young-adult series of the same name, follows Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister, Enola (Millie Bobby Brown), as she starts her own detective agency and accepts her first official case.

The Crown Season 5

When: November 9

The fifth season of the show tracing the reign of Queen Elizabeth II will focus on the Nineties’, including the breakdown of her son Charles’ marriage to Princess Diana, and his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.

Monica, O My Darling

When: November 11

A young man (Rajkummar Rao) desperately tries to make it big by plotting to pull off the perfect murder. Vasan Bala’s crime comedy also stars Radhika Apte, Radhika Madan and Huma Qureshi.

The Wonder

When: November 16

In 1862, a nurse (Florence Pugh) travels to rural Ireland to observe and report on a young girl whose family claims she hasn’t eaten for months. Sebastian Lelio’s film is based on Emma Donaghue’s 2016 novel of the same name

Wednesday

When: November 23

The  coming-of-age supernatural comedy, a spinoff of The Addams Family, imagines Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) as a high-school student, attempting to master her psychic powers and piecing together the mystery that affected her family 25 years ago. Directed by Tim Burton, the series also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman and Gwendoline Christie.

My Policeman

A closeted police officer (Harry Styles) in Fifties’ London falls in love with a museum curator (David Dawson), but marries the schoolteacher (Emma Corrin) he’s been dating to preserve his secret. The film is based on Bethan Roberts’ 2012 novel of the same name. 

Breathe: Into The Shadows Season 2

When: November 9

Abhishek Bachchan, Nithya Menen and Amit Sadh return for season 2 of the thriller series, in which a psychologist is revealed to be harbouring a dark secret.

When: November 11

A grieving mother (Emily Blunt) teams up with a former cavalry scout (Chaske Spencer) to hunt down the man she blames for the death of her son.

Mammals

When: November 11

A Michelin-starred chef (James Corden) falls apart when he discovers that his wife has been unfaithful. This six-episode miniseries also stars Sally Hawkins.

Disenchanted

When: November 23

Set 10 years after the events of the 2007 film Enchanted, Giselle (Amy Adams) and Robert (Patrick Dempsey) are now married and raising their daughter Morgan (Gabriella Baldacchino). Things go awry when she wishes that their lives were like a fairytale and the spell backfires, leaving her scrambling to save her family.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

When: November 25

In an attempt to cheer up their captain, Star Lord (Chris Pratt), still distraught and confused over the loss of his girlfriend Gamora (Zoe Saladana), the Guardians of the Galaxy decide to head to Earth in search of the perfect Christmas present. The special also stars Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker and Maria Bakalova.

A fantasy series sequel to George Lucas’ 1988 film of the same name follows an aspiring sorcerer who is whisked away on a journey to protect an infant empress and vanquish the evil queen.

When: November 4

A recovering US Army engineer (Jennifer Lawrence) befriends a car mechanic (Brian Tyree Henry) as she struggles to readjust to civilian life. Directed by Lila Neugebauer, the drama premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year.

Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me

When: November 4

The documentary covers six years of singer and actress Selena Gomez’s life as she grapples with her mental health and adopts coping strategies.

Spirited

When: November 11

Will Ferrell, Octavia Spencer and Ryan Reynolds star in this musical comedy, which retells Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol from the perspective of the ghosts.

Amid the Spanish financial crisis, a mother-daughter duo scheme and grift to keep up the lifestyle they think they deserve. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year.

The Kingdom Exodus

The third and final season of Lars Von Trier’s horror-comedy series returns to the weird wards of a Copanhagen hospital. It had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival last year.
