After their fortunes turned in 1990 via Aashiqui, Nadeem-Shravan produced a string of hits the following year, best of which was Saajan. The nine-song soundtrack once again underlined the composers' mastery over romantic melodies. Salman Khan's singing voice norm at the period meant that Nadeem-Shravan had to work with S P Balasubrahmanyam for most of the songs instead of their favourite man Kumar Sanu; an arrangement that proved quite beneficial for the veteran singer. Sanu did however feature in a couple of tracks, one of which even won him a Filmfare that year.
Best Song of Saajan: For a long time, I used to consider Bohot Pyaar Karte Hai the best composition of the album, until I came to know that it had been "adapted" from a Pakistani song. So now that crown has been passed on to the Alka Yagnik-SPB duet Dekha Hai Pehli Baar.
