It often amazes me how much S.P. Balasubramanyam's voice suited Salman Khan at one point – it is hard to imagine the same working for present day Salman. The association that began with Maine Pyaar Kiya, produced some of the most popular songs of the time for both the singer and the actor. Like Aashiqui that came a year later, Maine Pyar Kiya too was a milestone in multiple ways. Director Sooraj Barjatya who debuted with Maine Pyar Kiya, followed it up with a couple more successful movies; both in similar happy, joint family settings and featuring music by composer Vijay Patil aka Raamlaxman. Patil also made his debut as a composer in Maine Pyar Kiya. This of course rates as the best soundtrack from the team, a couple of inspiration instances notwithstanding.

Favourite Song of Maine Pyar Kiya: The 10 song soundtrack was loaded with charming romantic numbers that are almost all equally good, but I would go with Dil Deewana as my top pick – love it in both the SPB and Lata versions.
