Ghode Ko Jalebi Khilane Le Ja Riya Hoon by Anamika Haksar. It's a spectacular film about working class lives and dreams, made with honesty and love. The film blends multiple genres and styles – drama, dark humour, surrealism, dream, social commentary, politics, animation, cinema verité, indigenous art, industrial music.

Vice is the by far the best film of 2018, and I hope it sweeps the awards. I liked it because it exposes the man behind the Iraq war and the reason behind the rise of ISIS: the man responsible for it all while George Bush had little clue about it.

A Star Is Born. Always difficult to redo a classic, so when you manage to redefine one so that the new version becomes the standard it should be applauded. Plus Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga have given sterling performances.

The best Indian film for me would be Andhadhun. After a very long time I had a fulfilling experience watching a film. I haven't seen too many Hollywood films this year, but from what I have, I loved A Star Is Born. I guess being an artist I could relate to it a lot.

It has to be Stree. It is so difficult to elicit two diametrically opposite emotions at the same time – I was divided between laughing and getting scared at multiple points. And all this in a mainstream lexicon with an important social take-home.
Vasan Bala
One Cut of the Dead – Took me back to the basics, reinstated that making it happen 'Somehow', that is the great plan. The last scene, the camera mounted on the human pyramid, made me tear up with a smile, as good as the kissing montage of Cinema Paradiso for me.
Meghna Gulzar
The best thing I saw in 2018 was films like Stree, Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho getting the appreciation and success that they did! It's a new time at the movies, both for the audience as well as for filmmakers. To more such!

Ghode Ko Jalebi Khilane Le Ja Riya Hun by Anamika Haksar, which I saw in MAMI. Such a magical film that was not afraid to break all the rules of film making in order to give us an experience of the inner lives and dreams of pick pockets and street dwellers.
Farhan Akhtar
I absolutely loved A Star is Born. This is the third adaptation, and I loved it for the way Bradley Cooper has directed it – it's so moving and had great music.
Abhishek Chaubey
I am a Bojack Horseman (Netflix) fan and really enjoyed it. Also Succession on Hotstar. Kidding (also 0n Hotstar) is very underrated and I like it very much.
Gajraj Rao
Raazi. It had very gripping script, amazing performances, by Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt and all the other cast members. Good music, art direction, camera work. For me it was a perfect film on all fronts. Kudos to Meghna Gulzar for making a film on such a sensitive subject without making it jingoistic.

Mard ko Dard Nahi Hota – what a riot! So much fun, waiting for it to release so I can watch it again.
Ratna Pathak Shah
Mukkabaaz. I thought the performances were excellent, the script was wonderful, extremely well-made. I like that film. I am so sorry that it didn't do better at the box office.
Vicky Kaushal
Andhadhun was my favourite film this year. It was a treat – the editing, the direction, the performances, the film just kept pulling me in. I felt like the film is constantly telling you that 'Hey, you are ahead of the film as an audience,' but there were moments where I used to feel so behind in guessing where the film was. I was really liking the race between the film and the audience – now, I am with you, then ahead of you, then behind you. I got really into it.
Katrina Kaif
The best thing I saw in Hindi was Raazi. And in English was The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (on Amazon). It was a good musical after a long time, and I love musicals, which if done right, is still my favourite type of cinema.
Saiwyn Quadras
Kidding created by Dave Holstein and directed by Michel Gondry starring Jim Carrey. Brilliant writing, amazing treatment and direction, fabulous performances and a show that has a lot of life lessons said in an engaging manner. This was the show that moved me the most.
Vikrant Massey
A very good documentary that stayed with me was Wild Wild Country. I happened to watch ROMA recently and I really liked it.
Note: Films like 'Mard ko Dard Nahi Hota', 'Ghode Ko Jalebi Khilane Le Ja Riya Hu' and 'One Cut of the Dead' played at film festivals
