The film blends multiple genres and styles – drama, dark humour, surrealism, dream, social commentary, politics, animation, cinema verité, indigenous art, industrial music.

Vice is the by far the best film of 2018, and I hope it sweeps the awards. I liked it because it exposes the man behind the Iraq war and the reason behind the rise of ISIS: the man responsible for it all while George Bush had little clue about it.

A Star Is Born. Always difficult to redo a classic, so when you manage to redefine one so that the new version becomes the standard it should be applauded. Plus Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga have given sterling performances.

Andhadhun was my favourite film this year. It was a treat – the editing, the direction, the performances, the film just kept pulling me in. I felt like the film is constantly telling you that 'Hey, you are ahead of the film as an audience,' but there were moments where I used to feel so behind in guessing where the film was. I was really liking the race between the film and the audience – now, I am with you, then ahead of you, then behind you. I got really into it.

The best thing I saw in Hindi was Raazi. And in English was The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (on Amazon). It was a good musical after a long time, and I love musicals, which if done right, is still my favourite type of cinema.

Kidding created by Dave Holstein and directed by Michel Gondry starring Jim Carrey. Brilliant writing, amazing treatment and direction, fabulous performances and a show that has a lot of life lessons said in an engaging manner. This was the show that moved me the most.
