Rajesh A Krishnan’s Crew, a heist comedy, shines because of its remarkable ensemble of leading women. Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon play aircrew of the bankrupt Kohinoor airline who get entangled in an elaborate heist to secure extra cash in the face of financial uncertainty. These feisty female leads in an eat-the-rich comedy have captured the interest of the audiences across the country, and have elicited an enthusiastic response.

According to reports from Sacnilk Entertainment, Crew amassed Rs 9.25 crore on its opening day, followed by Rs 9.75 crore on Saturday. The film witnessed a notable 7.69% surge in footfalls on Sunday, raking in Rs 10.5 crore. This cumulative domestic earnings of Rs 29.5 crore over the three days, coupled with an overseas collection of Rs 22 crore, brings its worldwide gross to an impressive Rs 35.40 crore. Film exhibitor Akkshay Rathie said, “You have three absolute divas! Three women who've been superstars of their own generations coming together along with the presence of Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma, who by themselves are very popular among the masses. Throw in some extremely catchy music and you have an absolute entertainer's recipe in place.”

Balaji Motion Pictures announced on Saturday that Crew created history by being the “biggest female-led opener in the history of Hindi cinema worldwide.” Rathie thinks that looking at the numbers purely from a gendered lens isn’t fair to the “absolute rollicking commercial masala entertainer” that this film has proved to be. Rathie added, “Doing this discredits the impact and relevance of women in our industry…I think it's unfair on them, because male or female they are true blue stars! I really hope that this paves the way for women to not be a part of films that [only] speak about women issues or grave topics, but also be a part of absolute entertainers like this one. Because why should boys have all the fun?”
