Here's an exclusive bit of news we were lucky to find out about. Rohit Shetty plans to remake Sriram Raghavan's Andhadhun (2018) and Muzaffar Ali's Umrao Jaan (1981) in the style of action comedies. The director's last film was the Ranveer Singh-starrer Cirkus (2022). The remakes are currently in pre-production and no casting details have been announced yet, but here are the two scripts we were given a look at:

Andha Dhoom

Opening shot: A sleek black sports car zooms through the bustling streets of Mumbai, its engine roaring like a lion on the prowl.

Cut to: Our hero, Akshay Kumar, steps out of the car in slow motion, looking dashing in his aviator sunglasses and leather jacket.

Akshay Kumar: "Mumbai ka sabse bada pianist, Akash! Lekin yeh andha dhoom usse peecha nahi chodti!"

Cut to: A dramatic close-up of Akshay's eyes as he plays a haunting tune on his piano.

Cut to: The film's villain, played by Ajay Devgn, striding purposefully through a dimly-lit alleyway, his face contorted in rage.

Ajay Devgn: "Mujhe us pianist ko chahiye! Usne mujhe dhokha diya hai!"

Cut to: A thrilling chase sequence as Akshay races through the streets, pursued by Ajay and his henchmen.

Cut to: A sizzling romance between Akshay and the film's female lead, played by Deepika Padukone.

Deepika Padukone: "Tumhare saath har ek pal andha dhoom hai, Akash!"

Cut to: A high-octane action scene as Akshay takes on Ajay and his goons, armed only with his piano wire.

Cut to: The film's climax, as Akshay and Ajay face off in a tense piano duel, the fate of Mumbai hanging in the balance.

Akshay Kumar: "Maine tumhe pehle bhi bataya tha, Ajay. Andha dhoom mujhe peecha nahi chodti!"

The film ends with Akshay driving off into the sunset in his black sports car, with Deepika by his side.

Roll credits.

Umrao Jaan

FADE IN:

EXT. LUCKNOW - DAY

We open on a grand procession of cars, each one more luxurious than the last. They make their way through the bustling streets of Lucknow, drawing stares and admiration from everyone around. At the head of the procession is a heavily modified sports car, driven by a man with sunglasses and a swagger that screams confidence.

INT. KOTHE - DAY

We cut to a luxurious Kotha, where Umrao Jaan is preparing for her performance. She's surrounded by a team of stylists, makeup artists, and assistants, all working frantically to make sure she looks perfect.

Umrao Jaan: (to her assistant) How much time do we have left?

Assistant: (checking her watch) Five minutes, Umrao Jaan.

Umrao Jaan takes a deep breath and steps onto the stage. The audience is packed, and they cheer as she begins her performance. The music is loud and energetic, and Umrao Jaan dances with a skill and grace that is unmatched.

As she dances, we see a group of gangsters sneaking into the Kotha. They're armed and dangerous, and it's clear that they're up to no good.

She continues to dance, but now with a new determination. She incorporates martial arts moves into her routine, using her skills to fight off the attackers one by one.

As the fight rages on, we see flashes of explosions, cars crashing, and general chaos. In the end, Umrao Jaan emerges victorious, standing triumphantly over the defeated gangsters.

Umrao Jaan: (breathless but victorious) Lucknow is my home, and I won't let anyone harm it.

FADE OUT.
