Excel Entertainment’s Madgaon Express (2024), a buddy comedy about three college friends going to Goa, marked Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut. A comedy of errors, the film stars Avinash Tiwary, Pratik Gandhi, Nora Fatehi and Divyenndu in leading roles.
According to Sacnilk Entertainment, the film has made a total of Rs. 9.65 crore over the long Holi weekend. The per day collection is: Rs. 1.5 crore on Friday; Rs. 2.7 crore on Saturday; Rs. 2.8 crore on Sunday and Rs. 2.6 crore on Monday. Despite the dip on Monday, the film seems to be on an upward trajectory and is expected to draw crowds through this week and the long weekend (because of Good Friday).
Last week also saw the release of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, which marks Randeep Hooda’s directorial debut. The film is a biopic of Right-wing ideologue and freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Along with enacting Savarkar, Hooda also wrote the film, along with Utkarsh Naithani.
Swatantrya Veer Savarkar made Rs. 8.25 crore over the long weekend, according to Sacnilk Entertainment. Like Madgaon Express, the film witnessed its lowest numbers on Friday, and the highest on Sunday. Its per day collection is: Rs. 1.05 crore on Saturday; Rs. 2.25 crore on Saturday; Rs. 2.7 crore on Sunday and Rs. 2.25 crore on Monday.
Also in theatres is Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Yodha, whose 11-day collection amounts to Rs. 30.85 crore.
