Because of the 2 year gap between Baahubali and Baahubali 2, director S.S. Rajamouli says he felt the need to recap the first film to bring audiences up to speed. The team didn't want this sequence to be reminiscent of television serials so music director M.M Keeravani decided to compose a song to the opening credits. They then took iconic moments from the first film and froze them in time. The song that was composed talks about these moments as they appear on screen. In this video, Rajamouli explains how they based the VFX on an artist's 3D sculpture-renditions of these iconic moments:
