Bheed, directed by Anubhav Sinha, is based on the migrant workers’ exodus during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Starring Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Ashutosh Rana, Pankaj Kapur and Kritika Kamra, the movie hit theatres on March 24. According to The Indian Express, it earned Rs 42 lakh on its opening day. 

Sinha’s last film, Anek (2022), starring Ayushmann Khurrana, earned Rs 1.77 crore on its first day and had made Rs 5.35 crore by the end of its opening weekend. The last time Rao and Pednekar shared the screen was in Harshavardhan Kulkarni’s Badhaai Do (2022). It had earned Rs 1.65 crore on its first day and Rs 7.82 crore over its opening weekend, reported Bollywood Hungama. 

On Saturday, Bheed collected Rs 62 lakh. Keanu Reeves starrer John Wick: Chapter 4, which released last week in India in four languages – English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu – earned Rs 2.50 crore on Thursday, followed by Rs 6.50 crore and Rs 9 crore on the days following that, reported Box Office India.
