The dates for Amazon Prime's annual sale event, Prime Day, are out – and with that, are the announcements for Amazon Prime Video's July calendar. Several surprises are in store, as many big-ticket national and international films and shows now have a digital release date.
Here's a list of all you can stream in the upcoming days:
When: July 8th
The series will be a three-part musical event, featuring seven-time Grammy Award winner Billie Ellish, popular rapper, singer and songwriter Kid Cudi and the Oscar-winning singer, H.E.R. Fusing their music with intriguing visuals and storytelling, the artistes will be a part of three individual episodes – inspired by Paris, outer space and The Dunbar Hotel – creating a unique, fascinating experience of their own.
When: July 10th
Now who doesn't know Tom & Jerry? The classic rivalry returns, as Jerry moves into the finest hotel of New York City on the eve of the wedding of the century. This forces the event planner to hire Tom in order to get rid of the mouse. The ever-escalating adventures – and misadventures – of the two lifelong frenemies then threatens to not only ruin the event planner's career, but the wedding, and the hotel in itself.
When: July 15th
The Mahesh Narayanan and Fahadh Faasil combination returns after C U Soon and Take Off. The political thriller centres upon the life and times of Sulaiman Malik (Faasil), a charismatic leader who gains prominence among his community as he leads a revolution against corruption. Set across timelines, the film is the story of a past riddled with crime and pain that is recounted to Freddy, a petty criminal assigned to kill his estranged uncle, Sulaiman. Alongside Faasil, it stars Dileesh Pothan, Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan and Maala Parvathi, among others.
When: July 16th
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's upcoming sports drama stars Farhan Akhtar as Azhar Ali, a local-ruffian-turned-boxer whose life takes a turn after meeting a compassionate young woman, Ananya (Mrunal Thakur). Aspiring for a life of respect, Ali starts training – and getting recognised – as a boxer, earning the nickname Toofaan (storm), before succumbing to controversies that tarnish his image, and distance him from his true calling. Five years on, he battles to reclaim his lost glory.
When: July 21st
What happens when a quarrelling couple, on the verge of a separation, are forced to stay together, locked inside a house? Starring Nagabhushan and Bhoomika Shetty in the lead, the comedy is based on the events that transpire in the couple's lives – and their tumultuous relationship – in the aftermath of the first 21-day lockdown that took place all across the nation after the coronavirus outbreak in March 2020. A series of surprises and shocks follow, as they realise that they have an uninvited guest in the house too.
When: July 22nd
Pa. Ranjith's upcoming sports drama primarily revolves around the boxing culture of the 1970s Madras, amidst a clash between two clans in North Chennai – Idiyappa Parambarai and Sarpatta Parambarai. The film stars Arya as a boxer, along with Dushara Vijayan, Anupama Kumar and the late Maran, with the music being composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
When: July 23rd
TVF's Hostel Daze returns with its latest season, as four quirky engineering students, Ankit, Chirag, Jaat and Jhatoo, continue their shenanigans inside their residential campus. The dramedy series, based on the many adventures inside the hostel lives of Indian engineering students, stars Adarsh Gaurav, Ahsaas Channa, Nikhil Vijay, Shubham Gaur and Luv in primary roles.
When: July 25th
The Oscar-winning biographical drama revolves around a career thief turned FBI informant, William O'Neal, who infiltrates the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party (BPP) to keep tabs on their influential and charismatic chairman, Fred Hampton. O'Neal finds himself in a constant conflict between the right and wrong, as he revels in the danger of manipulating both his comrades as well as the FBI. Set in the late 1960s Chicago, the film is directed by Shaka King and stars Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield as the central characters.
