Devi Sri Prasad's 'Daakko Daakko Meka,' the first single from Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa, was released today. The two-part action thriller, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, and directed by Sukumar, is set to have a theatrical release in December 2021. The rhythm-heavy and rousing song is sung by Shivam with lyrics by Chandrabose. The single was also released in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam, sung by Benny Dayal, Vishal Dadlani, Vijay Prakash and Rahul Nambiar.
The music video shows Allu Arjun's Pushpa among his people and the song that introduces us to their world, interspersed with stylized images from the film. The lyrics suggest that the laws of the forest are brutal and these people are justified in doing anything to ward off hunger. Near the end, we get a few shots of composer Devi Sri Prasad and the singer. There's also a cool signature shoulder move that's repeated throughout the song.
A teaser of the film was released in April. It showed a mythical-looking image of a man with hands tied behind his back and face covered by a hood. We got a few tantalizing glimpses of the face, and then a gunshot, people running, and then we get the first look of Allu Arjun in the teaser. It seems like he plays a red sandalwood smuggler.
Apart from Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil and Rashmika Mandanna, the film also has Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj, Dhananjay, Sunil, Vennela Kishore, Anasuya Bharadwaj. The film is written and directed by Sukumar (his last film was Ram Charan-starrer Rangasthalam). Cinematography is by Mirosław Kuba Brożek with Devi Sri Prasad scoring the music. Sound design is by Resul Pookutty. The film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and wil release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada.
