Aga Naga: The First Single of Ponniyin Selvan 2 is Here

Ahead of Ponniyin Selvan 2’s release on April 28, the makers have kickstarted the promotions. After the release of Trisha’s multiple behind-the-scenes look tests for Kundhavai, the team has now released the first single from the sequel. The viral ‘Aga Naga’, which amplified the subtle romantic glances between Vandhiyathevan (Karthi) and Kundavai (Trisha) when they met on the boat in Ponniyin Selvan 1, gets an extended version in the second instalment.

Composed by AR Rahman, the melody has vocals by Shakthisree Gopalan and lyrics by Ilango Krishnan. It has been released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. The lyrical video of the single features drawings of Vandiyathevan and Kundavai, as they take a stroll near the Ponni lake and the forests nearby. While the first part had only fewer scenes featuring the couple together, the single also hints at the possibility of a detailed love track in the second part. 

Helmed by Mani Ratnam, the two-part film series co-stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayam Ravi and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles. Ponniyin Selvan is based on the five-part novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. While Ravi Varman has lensed the magnum opus, the film has been edited by A Sreekar Prasad.
