Ayan Mukerji to Direct Hrithik Roshan’s War 2

According to a report by Variety, Ayan Mukerji will be directing Hrithik Roshan’s War 2. War (2019) directed by Siddharth Anand starred Roshan and Tiger Shroff. The film is a part of Aditya Chopra’s spy universe which kicked off with Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War and the latest film to join the spy universe was Pathaan. Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 will also be a part of the spy universe along with War 2.

A trade source told Variety: “Aditya Chopra is choosing the captain of the ship for each YRF spy universe film strategically. Ayan has delivered big hits which appeal to all audience segments and has the pulse of Indian audiences. He has shown that he knows how to mount a film with a huge scale, which is essential for someone to direct War 2. Plus, he is a young filmmaker who can bring a different kind of newness to the spy universe. Ayan will have his unique take on how to make an epic action spectacle with War 2. Aditya Chopra trusts him to take the franchise forward.”

Mukerji will be directing War 2 along with Brahmastra 2: Dev and Brahmastra 3. The two installments from the Astraverse will be released in 2026 and 2027 respectively.
