Bhediya Trailer: Varun Dhawan Turns into a Werewolf

The trailer of Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon starrer Bhediya was launched today and for those of a certain age, it will remind you of Rahul Roy and Pooja Bhatt’s Junoon (1992). Only Bhediya, directed by Amar Kaushik, mixes comedy into this supernatural thriller.

The 2 minute 55 seconds trailer opens with Dhawan lying in bed and exhibiting his superpowers by catching a fly. Don’t worry. The stakes are higher than insect life in this film. After Dhawan is bitten on his bum by a mysterious creature, he turns into an “icchadhari werewolf”, which means that he turns into this beast from time to time. At first he keeps this a secret, but ultimately confesses to his buddies, played by Abhishek Banerjee, Paalin Kabak and Sanon, that in addition to having gained powers like a heightened sense of hearing and smell, his body changes into that of a wolf. This is officially the reason why Dhawan is shirtless for much of Bhediya’s trailer. When it seems like he may have attacked people, it becomes necessary to find a solution that will change Dhawan back to normal. While the computer-generated werewolf isn’t particularly impressive looking in the trailer, the banter between Dhawan, Banerjee, Kabak and Sanon seems fun.

Directed by Amar Kaushik, written by Niren Bhatt, Bhediya is produced by Bhushan Kumar. It is scheduled to release in theatres on November 25.
