Directed by Raju Murugan of Joker (2016) fame, Japan stars Karthi in the lead role, and the supporting cast includes Anu Emmanuel, Vijay Milton, and Sunil. Japan will release in four languages - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
The film has music by GV Prakash; Philomin Raj is the editor; and Ravi Varman is the cinematographer. The film’s production banner, Dream Warrior Pictures, took to its Twitter handle to share the announcement and unveil a new poster of the film on May 25. Karthi looks quirky in his golden outfit, adorned with golden jewels, teeth, and guns. To back it up, we can see golden biscuits in the background, and in the forefront stands Karthi with his ear-to-ear grin.
Following the announcement, director Raju Murugan shared a glimpse of who Japan actually is. We have the characters calling him a hero, a comedian, and a dirty villain. While hailed by some, and mocked by others, Karthi appears in a retro look, answering the question, "I am Japan, Made in India." The teaser promises a lot of action, comedy, and quirkiness.
The film marks the second collaboration between director Raju Murugan and Dream Warrior Pictures after Joker. Japan marks the 25th film of the actor who was recently showered with love for his role in Ponniyin Selvan.
