In an interview with BBC, Priyanka Chopra Jonas revealed that she was paid 10% of the salary of her male co-actor. Speaking about the pay parity in Bollywood, she said that it took 22 years for her to be paid equally as her male co-actor in her upcoming Hollywood project Citadel.
"I've never had pay parity in Bollywood. I would get paid about 10% of the salary of my male co-actor", said Chopra.
"It [the pay gap] is large, substantially large. And so many women still deal with that. I'm sure I will too if I worked with a male co-actor now in Bollywood," she further added, "My generation of female actors have definitely asked [for equal pay]. We've asked, but we've not got it."
Chopra will next be starring in Citadel alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan amongst others. The actress was last seen in The White Tiger (2021) co-starring Rajkummar Rao and Adarsh Gourav.
