According to a Times of India report, Ranbir Kapoor said that his upcoming film Animal made him realise how inadequate he is as an actor, the film in which Kapoor will be seen in shades of grey, unlike his real self.

Talking about his character in the film, he said, "It's a new territory for me. It's a crime drama and a father-son story. It's something audiences don't expect me to do. It has got shades of grey. He is very alpha, again something I'm not. So, I'm looking forward to it.

"It is completely out of my comfort zone. As an actor, such challenges are important as it really shook me up. It made me work hard, and realise how inadequate I'm and how much I needed to work to reach a certain level."

Produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, Murad Khetani's Cine1 Studios and Pranay Reddy Vanga's Bhadrakali Pictures, Animal is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Bobby Deol and is scheduled to release on August 11.
