Vidya Balan's The Dirty Picture (2011) was an unexpected blockbuster and now, producer Ekta Kapoor has decided it's time for a sequel.
According to the Times Of India, Kapoor has brought writer Kanika Dhillon on board to write the sequel. Another male writer is also expected to come on board
Although Kapoor's first choice for the film was Kangana Ranaut, the actress turned down the offer. As per the reports, Taapsee Pannu and Kriti Sanon are being considered.
Directed by Milan Luthria, The Dirty Picture was inspired by the life of late South Indian actress Silk Smitha and many other actresses who belonged to the same genre of work. According to Bollywood Hungama, the film made a lifetime collection of Rs.80 crores at the box office.
The film is expected to start production in early 2023.
