Here Are The Big Telugu Films That Are Hitting Theatres In April 2021

The success stories of Krack, Uppena, Naandhi, and Jathi Ratnalu have breathed fresh air into a hopeless year. Here's a list of films that might just pull the remaining reluctant viewers back into the theatres. But remember, we still need to mask up and sanitize our hands!

Seetimaarr

Director: Sampath Nandi

Release: April 2

Though Gopichand is a wonderful actor, he has not experimented with his roles much. Ever since he stopped shouting and grunting (as a villain), he's mostly played a do-gooder in action dramas. Seetimaarr also seems to follow that pattern. And this time he's teamed up with Sampath Nandi, the director of his 2017 movie, Goutham Nanda. In Seetimaarr, he'll be seen as a Kabaddi coach. The movie also stars Tamannaah, Bhumika Chawla, Rao Ramesh, Tarun Arora, Rahman, and Digangana Suryavanshi.

Wild Dog

Director: Ashishor Solomon

Release: April 2

Every once in a while, Akkineni Nagarjuna likes to reinvent himself. In Wild Dog, he portrays an NIA agent whose ruthless methods of eliminating terrorists earn him the sobriquet "Wild Dog". Rajasekhar also played a similar character in Praveen Sattaru's spy thriller PSV Garuda Vega (2017). It'll be interesting to see if Nagarjuna can bring newness to the table with this high-octane action thriller. Wild Dog also features Dia Mirza, Saiyami Kher, Atul Kulkarni, and Anish Kuruvilla.

Vakeel Saab

Director: Venu Sriram

Release: April 9

In this reimagined version of the Hindi blockbuster Pink (2016), Pawan Kalyan wears the suit of an advocate and fights for women's rights. It looks like a lot of action scenes have been included in this film and it may totally take the spotlight away from a story that's essentially about what women want – the freedom to say "no". There's a fear that Nivetha Thomas, Anjali, and Ananya Nagalla may get sidelined in the larger picture. Will there be room for Shruti Haasan at least?

Love Story

Director: Sekhar Kammula

Release: April 16

Less than a month ago, a video with some dance moves and behind-the-scenes footage was attached to the lyrical video of "Saranga Dariya" and released on YouTube. Today, that video has touched 75 million views! Isn't that an astounding number? It tells us a lot about the people who are waiting to catch this movie – and this song, in particular – on the big screen. In Love Story, she'll be seen alongside Naga Chaitanya, who's looking to hit the ball out of the park with this true-blue romantic drama.

Tuck Jagadish

Director: Shiva Nirvana

Release: April 23

Shiva Nirvana has so far directed only two films – Ninnu Kori (2017), Majili (2019) – and both of them have become hits. With Tuck Jagadish, he seems to be aiming higher. While his earlier movies were deep-fried in the romance genre, he has taken a different direction this year. It's certainly a leap of faith as he's roped in Nani for an out-and-out action film. And with actors like Ritu Varma, Jagapathi Babu, Aishwarya Rajesh, Nassar, and Daniel Balaji, this may well turn out to be a good-natured masala drama.

Virata Parvam

Director: Venu Udugula

Release: April 30

Dorasaani (2019) didn't have much time to dedicate to the cause of communism since it focused on a love story that brought together a woman and a man from different castes and classes. Virata Parvam, however, won't be the same. Here, director Venu Udugula appears to have attached the forces of communism and romance together. This Sai Pallavi and Rana Daggubati movie might challenge the ideas of "nationalism" and "patriotism". What do they mean anyway in a country that's as large and varied as ours?

Apart from the biggies mentioned above Yuvarathnaa (dubbed from Kannada), starring Puneeth Rajkumar and Sayyeshaa, and, Sulthan (dubbed from Tamil), featuring Karthi and Rashmika Mandanna, are dropping in theatres on April 1 and April 2, respectively.
