After Ajay Devgn's Shaitaan, Kajol to star in Horror Thriller film MAA, Shoot Wrapped

Filmmaker Vishal Furia, best known for directing films like Chhorii (2021) starring Nushratt Bharuccha has wrapped up the shoot of his upcoming film MAA starring Kajol in a lead role.

Announcing the same, the director posted a long note on his social media handle that read, “So, I wrap up my most ambitious project till date... A Horror Thriller "MAA" starring the most amazing @kajol and produced by the maverick @ajaydevgn sir @adffilms

Sometimes destiny gifts you a project as it seems fit. "Maa" is one such project which came as a gift from the One above. #LuvRanjan sir introduced and recommended me to Devgn Films and I ll be highly indebted to him for that.

I cannot emphasize enough on the fact at how amazing it has been to have script and world building discussions of "Maa" with Mr. Ajay Devgn. For a Superstar of his stature, to possess such knowledge and expertise on genre treatment was astonishing and highly motivating. His wisdom as a producer empowers a young filmmaker like myself to stretch beyond the limits of Bollywood.

A fantastic script by my dear friend @saiwyn was one more collaboration wish come true for me. The man is a writer of superhits because of his belief in his stories and amazing collaborative attitude with the director.

@danishdevgn , the young stalwart at Devgn Films is a force to reckon with. The future of Devgn Films is bright with him handling the affairs there. He ensured that the whole process flows smoothly for a new member like myself at Devgn Films.

Last and the biggest thanks - Kajol. The modesty and humility of the star is such that even after 3 decades still seems unaware of her super powers. I was very nervous with this huge responsibility of transitioning a "Superstar of romance" to the Horror genre. But from day one, the ease with which she just jumped genres made the job smooth for me. Her eyes portrayed fear, scare, shock and horror with the same believability that she portrays emotions. I can proudly say that I have the honor of directing those eyes that speak volumes but this time spoke volumes of horror. Thank you so much Kajol mam for being so kind and patient with a young ambitious filmmaker like myself and for making my creative path so easy everyday on a set which demanded sweat and blood from you, which you happily sacrificed.

MAA is produced by Ajay Devgn under the banner Ajay Devgn Films. Devgn was last seen in Shaitaan alongside R Madhavan and Jyothika. The film minted huge numbers at the box office. Shaitaan is available to stream on Netflix.
