Alia Bhatt has announced her next film Jigra, which will be co-produced by her company Eternal Sunshine Productions and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. The film will be directed by Vasan Bala, who made the critically acclaimed Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota (2018) and Monica O My Darling (2022). Jigra will be released in theatres on September 27, 2024.

Bhatt shared a video on her Instagram page where an animated version of her stands alone in the rain with her head hanging in despair. Bhatt's voiceover plays in the background and says, “Dekh, dekh mujhe. Meri rakhi pehenta hai na tu, tu meri protection mein hai. Tujhe main kuch nahi hone dungi, kabhi bhi.” (Look at me, you are wearing my rakhi, you are in my protection. I will not let anything happen to you, ever). Interestingly, Bhatt's first name appears on screen one alphabet at a time in the video, like male superstars are introduced in the beginning of their films.

Bhatt added a caption to her post and wrote, “Presenting #Jigra, directed by the extremely talented @vasanbala and produced by @dharmamovies & @eternalsunshineproduction. From debuting in a Dharma production to now producing a film with them, in many ways, it feels like coming full circle from where I started. Every day is a different day… exciting, challenging (and a little scary)… not just as an actor but also as a producer as we bring this film to life, and I CANNOT wait to share more as we move forward JIGRA - in cinemas on 27th September 2024”

Jigra is written by Debashish Irengbam and produced by Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Bhatt and Somen Mishra. This is Bhatt's second production after Darlings (2022). The film will have music by Achint Thakkar, with lyrics by Varun Grover.
