Anil Kapoor convinced Rakesh Roshan to make Koi…Mil Gaya

Hrithik Roshan starrer Koi…Mil Gaya celebrates 20 years since the film was released in theatres. The makers of the film recently announced that the film will have a re-run in the theatres to celebrate 20 years of Koi…Mil Gaya. In conversation with Film Companion, Roshan revealed that his father and producer-director Rakesh Roshan had decided to shelve the film initially but Anil Kapoor convinced Rakesh to make the film.

“I remember talking to his very good friend and colleague Anil Kapoor. So Mr. Anil Kapoor was there and I love him, he loves me, so I went and I begged him,” Roshan told Anupama Chopra in the interview.

“First I asked him what he thought of this concept that dad was now rejecting, he said he absolutely loved it. I said Oh, then this is my chance, internally I'm saying, begging him to convince my dad to make the film. And I think he could see it in my eyes , he could see the sense of loss and how heartbreaking it would have been if he (Rakesh Roshan) had not made this,” the actor said.

The science fiction drama also starred Preity Zinta, Rekha, Rajat Bedi in pivotal roles. Koi…Mil Gaya released in theatres on August 8, 2003. Roshan will next be seen in Fighter alongside Deepika Padukone. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand.
