Earlier this week, the makers of the Thalapathy Vijay starrer Leo announced that a public audio launch event would not be taking place due to excessive requests for passes and logistical issues. The audio launch event is one of the traditions of a Vijay release, and it is one of the few public events where the star meets his fans and speaks to them. While the news disappointed fans, the makers released the second single from the film’s soundtrack earlier today.
Titled ‘Badass’, the song is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and sees him go back to his hard-rock roots with grungy crooning and hard guitars, drums, and bass. The lyrics by Vishnu Edavan describe Vijay’s character Leo Das, confirming that his character would be part of the same family as Sanjay Dutt’s Anthony Das and Arjun Sarja’s Harold Das. The song lasts almost four minutes and is accompanied by a lyrical video. The visuals include illustrations of scenes from the promotional material that has already been released, such as the title teaser, ‘Glimpse of Anthony Das’, and ‘Glimpse of Harold Das’. It also features Anirudh singing the song, filmed in black and white.
Leo is an action film that is written and directed by Lokesh Kannagaraj who returns after last year’s Vikram. The film stars an ensemble cast of Vijay, Trisha, Arjun Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Gautam Vasudev Menon, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Mansoor Ali Khan, and more. The film is backed by SS Lalit Kumar and Jagadish Palaniswamy under the Seven Screen Studios banner. It has music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa, and editing by Philomin Raj. Acton directors Anabariv return to collaborate with Lokesh Kannagaraj after Vikram. The film is all set to release on October 19.
