Ashutosh Rana: Current Bollywood is a “Golden Period” for Actors Like Him

Veteran actor Ashutosh Rana recently made his OTT comeback with JioCinema’s Murder in Mahim, an investigative drama series adapted from Jerry Pinto’s novel of the same name. He opened up about his belief that the current era of Bollywood is a “golden period” for actors like him, who are not afraid to take on diverse roles.

The actor — who has often played complex, negative roles in his career — said, “I feel there is a lot left in Ashutosh Rana. The actor in Ashutosh Rana is like a child who has just started walking and is taking baby steps. There is a lot to come. Why I think this way is because I started with films which were called off-beat cinema and that have become mainstream cinema now.”

Rana continued, “For the actors like me, it is a golden period. I hope to get lots of work and play different characters.” The actor further asserted that he would like to embody characters like Chanakya, Raavan, Vivekanad and Krishna on screen.

Meanwhile, Murder in Mahim, which is directed by Raj Acharya, also stars Vijay Raaz, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Shivaji Satam.
