Ayushmann Khurrana, Ammy Virk and Ahan Shetty to join Sunny Deol in Border 2

JP Dutta and Sunny Deol will be working together after 26 years on Border 2, a spiritual sequel to the hugely successful film Border (1997). As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, a source close to the development revealed that Border 2 is a standalone film that has no direct or indirect connection to Border. The source said, “It is an entirely stand-alone project. Sunny Deol will play a soldier. And joining him in the cast are Ayushmann Khurrana, Ahan Shetty, and Punjabi star Ammy Virk in a stellar role.”

Khurrana was last seen in Dream Girl 2 which released on August 25, while Shetty made his debut with Tadap (2021), which had failed to impress audiences.

Border was based on real-life events that occurred during the Battle of Longewalathe, which was a part of the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. The film's cast included Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Puneet Issar and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt and Sharbani Mukherjee played supporting roles in the film. The film was directed by Dutta.
