Darlings Director Jasmeet K Reen's Next is the Madhubala Biopic

After a successful directorial debut with Alia Bhatt, Vijay Varma and Shefali Shah starrer Darlings (2022), Jasmeet K Reen will be writing and directing the Madhubala biopic next.

As per a report in Pinkvilla, a source told the portal, “The biopic is currently in the writing stage. There are so many facets in the life of Madhubala and the makers are clear to have a script that justifies her legacy in place before taking the film on floors. Jasmeet has a knack for writing strong characters for women and Madhubala falls right in her alley of filmmaking.”

The film's lead actress is yet to be finalised and given the responsibility that comes with playing the character of Madhubala, the hunt for the right actor to play the part is currently underway. The source added, “It’s a dream role for any actress and will cover several aspects of Madhubala’s life. The makers are committed to going ahead with the best possible story that does full justice to the glorious life of late Madhubala.”

The film is currently in the scripting stage and pre-production is likely to begin in 2024. As per the report, the film will be co-produced under Madhubala’s youngest sister, Madhur Brij Bhushan’s banner Madhubala Ventures Private Limited, Brewing Thoughts Private Limited and an international studio that has also come on board for the project.
