Directed by Koratala Siva, Jr NTR's Devara gets one of the most smooth, pleasantly musical yet intense first glimpses in recent times. Set in the backdrop of a sea and its shore, the film's first glimpse shows us pirates steal goods from a ship, and instantly cuts to Jr NTR slashing and attacking a bunch of men with axe and sword. The violence is apparent with even the film's title having four-five different weapons, but it seems to have done with so much patience and creativity that every action in the glimpse unfolds at a slower pace, so much that you can see blood splashing from all the action completing a crescent moon. Besides, Anirudh Ravichander seems to have taken a detour for this violence saga, where he goes the melodious route to back the action.
After attacking people, Jr NTR washes his weapons in the sea which has by now turned red. He says, "This sea witnessed more swords and blood than fish. No wonder they call it 'The Red Sea'."
The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor in her South Indian debut, as well as Saif Ali Khan and Prakash Raj. Anirudh Ravichander composes the music while R Ratnavelu and Sreekar Prasad handle the cinematography and editing respectively. The film is said to be a period drama and is scheduled to release on April 5.
