Dhanush will be next seen in the period action film Captain Miller. The film is said to be based in pre-independent India and is hinted to be a gory action film that pits Dhanush against the British. While the film was initially supposed to be released on December 15, the makers have now announced that the release has been postponed to be out during Pongal in January 2024.

The initial release date put the film against big blockbusters such as Prabhas’ Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire and Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki. Now, Captain Miller would be closing with Sivakarthikeyan’s sci-fi comedy Ayalaan, which also pushed its Diwali release date to Pongal. The film will also be clashing with Telugu stalwarts such as Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Karam, Venkatesh’s Saindhav, and Vijay Devarakonda’s Family Star. The announcement came with a new poster of Dhanush looking badass in the grunge-looking aesthetic that characterizes Arun Matheswaran’s films.

Captain Miller is written and directed by Arun Matheswaran, with dialogues by Madhan Karky. The film is backed by Satya Jyothi Films, with the producers being Sendhil and Arjun Thyagarajan. It also stars Sundeep Kishan, Priyanka Mohan, Dr. Shivarajkumar, and Edward Sonnenblick among others. GV Prakash Kumar composes the music while Siddhartha Nuni handles the cinematography.
