The filming of Marathi film Khashaba directed by filmmaker Nagraj Manjule’s has begun. The film is a cinematic venture that pays homage to Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav, who clinched a historic wrestling medal in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, making him the first Indian in post Independent India to win an individual Olympic medal.
Set against the backdrop of post-independence India, Khashaba explores the extraordinary journey of an unsung hero who overcame adversities with his unwavering dedication. From his humble beginnings to his remarkable win, Khashaba's story is a testament to the triumph of the human spirit.
Talking about the project, Manjule said, “Embarking on my third Marathi film post Sairat; all set for an ambitious production in collaboration with Jio Studios. The groundwork for Khashaba has been underway for the past three years. I am thrilled shooting commences from today”.
Presented by Jio Studios and produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Gargi Kulkarni & Aatpat Productions, Khashaba is expected to release in cinemas in 2025.
