Karthik Subbaraj's Jigarthanda Double X gets a release date (Tamil) 

The makers of Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah’s Jigarthanda Double X announced that the gangster drama will be released on November 10. The film will clash at the cinemas with Karthi’s Japan and Vikram Prabhu’s Raid. The film is written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj and is said to be a spiritual sequel to his 2014 gangster comedy Jigarthanda.

Backed by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam and Kathiresan under the Stone Bench Films & Five Star Creations banners, the film has music by Santhosh Narayanan, with SS Thirunavukarasu and Shafique Mohamed Ali as the cinematographer and editor, respectively.

Teaser of Chiyaan Vikram’ Thangalaan out (Tamil) 

Chiyaan Vikram, who was last seen in the historical epic Ponniyin Selvan II, will be starring in Pa Ranjith’s period drama Thangalaan. The film has been in production for the past year and is said to be based on the KGF mines of Karnataka. The makers released a teaser and also announced the release date of the film.

Thangalaan is directed by Pa Ranjith, who has co-written the film along with Tamil Prabha. KE Gnanavelraja backs it under the Studio Green banner in association with Neelam Productions. The film co-stars Parvathi Thiruvothu, Pasupathy, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone and Harikrishnan Anbudurai. GV Prakash Kumar is the music director, Kishor Kumar is the cinematographer and Selva RK is the editor. The film is set to be released on January 26, 2024.

Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 gets its first look teaser (Tamil)

Kamal Haasan is all set to return as Senapathy in Indian 2. The makers of the vigilante drama recently released an 'intro' video of the film which sees the demand for Kamal Haasan's Indian to return. 

Indian 2 is directed by Shankar and is backed by Subaskaran and Udhayanidhi Stalin under the Luca Productions and Red Giant Movies banners. Ravi Varman handles the cinematography while Sreekar Prasad handles the editing.

Karthi's Japan clears the censorship formalities, gets a release date (Tamil) 

The makers of Karthi's heist comedy Japan recently launched the film’s trailer at a star-studded event that featured prominent actors including Suriya, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Tamannaah Bhatia. The makers have now announced that the film has been cleared for release on November 10 with a ‘U/A’ rating. Japan will be clashing with Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda Double X, which stars Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah.

The film is written and directed by Raju Murugan. Backed by SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu under the Dream Warrior Pictures banner, Japan co-stars Anu Emmanuel, KS Ravikumar, Sunil, and Vijay Milton. It has music by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography by S Ravi Varman, and editing by Philomin Raj.

Mohanlal's Neru gets a release date and first-look poster (Malayalam) 

It's already known that Mohanlal has reunited with director Jeethu Joseph for the courtroom drama Neru. The film marks the duo's fifth collaboration. They had previously made the Drishyam franchise, 12th Man, and the unreleased Ram. The makers have now announced that the film will be released on December 21. 

The announcement came with a poster that shows the first look of Mohanlal's character in the film. Jeethu Joseph co-writes the script along with Santhi Maya Devi. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner. Vishnu Shyam composes the music while Satheesh Kurup handles the cinematography.

Mammootty's Kaathal gets a release date (Malayalam)

Mammootty’s upcoming film with Jyothika, Kaathal, is all set to be released on November 23. The film is directed by Jeo Baby, who is known for The Great Indian Kitchen (2021). Mammootty produces the film under the banner Mammootty Film Kampany. Kaathal marks the return of actress Jyothika to Malayalam cinema after more than a decade as she was last seen in the film Seetha Kalyanam (2009).

Written by Adarsh Sukumaran and Paulson Skaria, the film also stars Lalu Alex, Muthumani, Chinnu Chandni, Sudhi Kozhikode, Anagha Akku and Josi Sijo. Salu K Thomas serves as the cinematographer while Francis Lewis works as the editor. Mathews Pulickal composes the music for the film.

Mohanlal joins hands with director Joshiy (Malayalam)

Actor Mohanlal joins hands with his long-time collaborator director Joshiy for the pan-Indian entertainer Rambaan. The film is reportedly written by Chemban Vinod Jose, who also backs the film under the Chembosky Motion Pictures banner, in association with Einstein Zac Paul and Shailesh R Singh.

The actor and director have collaborated in several films, with their last film being 2015’s Lailaa O Lailaa. Rambaan’s technical crew consists of cinematographer Sameer Thahir, with music composer Vishnu Vijay and editor Vivek Harshan.

Prajwal Devraj's next film gets a title (Kannada) 

Actor Prajwal Devraj is all set to collaborate with choreographer-turned-director Raja Kalai Kumar in a new film. The makers announced that the film will be titled Cheetah and will be an action entertainer. The film is Kalai Kumar’s directorial debut. The announcement was accompanied by a first-look poster. The film is set to star Ashima Narwal, Sruthi Hariharan, and Sunil, in his Kannada film debut. Cheetah is backed by Prathiba Naresh under the Rajalakshmi Entertainments banner.

Prithviraj Sukumaran's Empuraan wraps the first schedule (Malayalam)

The makers of Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan announced that the first schedule of the film has been wrapped. The film was announced earlier last month, with Prithviraj Sukumaran returning to direct the sequel to Lucifer. The film is backed by Lyca Productions along with Antony Perumbavoor’s Aashirvad Cinemas. The film is written by Murali Gopi and also stars Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, and others.

Trailer of Rakshit Shetty's Sapta Sagaradaache Ello: Side B to be out on this date (Kannada)

The makers of Rakshit Shetty and Rukmini Vasanth's Sapta Sagaradaache Ello: Side B announced that the official trailer will be out on November 4. SSE: Side B is directed by Hemanth M Rao, who wrote the film along with Gundu Shetty.

It stars Rakshit Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth, Chaithra J Achar, Achyuth Kumar, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Ramesh Indira, and Sharath Lohitashwa. Advaitha Gurumurthy has handled the cinematography while Sunil Bharadwaj has edited the film. Rakshit Shetty produces the film under his Paramvah Studios banner and Ullas Hydur is the production designer. The film is slated to be released on November 17.

Chikkanna's Upadhyaksha gets a release window (Kannada)

Comedic actor Chikkanna is all set to make his debut as the leading hero with the film Upadhyaksha. The film is said to be a spiritual sequel to the hit comedy Adhyaksha (2014), which starred Sharan along with Chikkanna. The makers of the romantic comedy have revealed that the team is looking to release the film in December. The film is in the post-production stage at the moment.

Upadhyaksha is directed by Anil Kumar and is backed by Umapathy Films and DN Films. The film also stars Malaika Vasupal, Ravi Shankar and Sadhu Kokila. The film has cinematography by Shekhar Chandru and editing by KM Prakash. Arjun Janya has composed the music for the film.

Anand Deverakonda's next gets a title (Telugu)

Anand Deverakonda, who was last seen in the hit drama Baby, has announced his next film with director Mithun Varadaraja Krishnan. Titled Duet, the film will co-star Ritika Nayak. The actor’s brother Vijay Deverakonda attended the launch ceremony. Duet is backed by Neha Gnanavel Raja and G Dhananjayan under the Studio Green Productions banner, with Madhura Sreedhar Reddy co-producing the film.

Ram Charan Joins The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science (Telugu)

Actor Ram Charan joined the actor’s branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science. He joined a few months after the inclusion of his RRR co-star Jr. NTR. He joins the AMPAS along with prominent Hollywood actors such as Keke Palmer, Chang Chen, Robert Davi, and Sakura Ando. Charan had a phenomenal last year with the SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which won big at the Academy Awards and Golden Globes. The actor will next be seen in Shankar’s Game Changer
