Heeramandi actress Manisha Koirala: I waited 28 years for Sanjay to call me

During the trailer launch of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, Manisha Koirala who plays a significant role in the series directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali spoke about reuniting with the director after 28 years since Khamoshi: The Musical which released in 1996 starring Salman Khan, Nana Patekar and Seema Biswas.

“I waited 28 years for Sanjay to call me and it’s been a pleasure. It’s an honour to be working with that genius. A lot of hard work and pyaar mohabbat has gone into making Heermandi. We have made the show with so much love, and we expect you all to love it.”

Koirala worked in films like Dil Se (1998), Mann (1999), Bombay (1995). She also made special appearances in films like Sanju (2018) and Shehzada (2023). Heeramandi also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal in lead roles. The eight episode series premieres on Netflix from May 1.
