Indian Film All We Imagine as Light wins Grand Prix Award at Cannes 2024

Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light won the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. The Grand Prix is the second-most coveted prize of the film festival after the Palme d’Or. All We Imagine As Light premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in its much-feted ‘competition section’ on May 23. It was the first Indian film to feature in the festival’s main segment in 30 years. The last Indian movie to make it to the competition section was Shaji N Karun’s Swaham in 1994.

In an interview with Film Companion, the filmmaker along with Ranabir Das, spoke about how they captured the beauty of Mumbai and how the actors and their performances elevated the project. Kapadia also shared how FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) has given opportunities to several filmmakers in India.

All We Imagine As Light stars Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam and Hridhu Haroon in the lead roles and the makers are hoping to release the film in India soon.
