Shah Rukh Khan’s film Jawan has received a thundering response from audiences and set the cash registers ringing. As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, the Hindi version of the film has collected between Rs 64-66 crores on day one of its release. This makes Jawan the Hindi film with the biggest opening day collection ever.

Interestingly, the previous record was held by Khan's film Pathaan, which earned Rs 55 crores on its opening day. As per the report, the three national chains - PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis - have collected Rs. 31 crores on the film’s opening day, which is marginally more than Pathaan which reportedly earned Rs 27 crores across the three chains on its opening day. The Bollywood Hungama report also mentions that in the non-national chains and single screens as well, Jawan has outperformed Pathaan by showing significantly greater earnings.

Jawan was released in theatres on September 7. The film stars Khan, Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in key roles with a special appearance by Deepika Padukone. The film’s supporting cast includes Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover and others. Jawan is directed by Atlee.
