Kannagi, Starring Keerthi Pandian and Ammu Abhirami, Gets A Release Date

The makers of the drama Kannagi recently revealed a poster, featuring the belly of a woman with a small baby step on it, hinting at a story that looks at pregnancy. The title Kannagi refers to the historical character in Ilango Adigal’s Sangam epic Silapathikaram. Kannagi sets fire to the town of Madurai in the epic as she is angry at the king who killed her husband unjustly.

The film stars Keerthi Pandian and Ammu Abhirami in the lead roles and is helmed by Yashanth Kishore in his debut directorial. The film has music by Shaan Rahman and has cinematography by T Ramji. It is backed by M Ganesh and J Dhanush under the ES Entertainment and Skymoon Entertainment banner. The film has been in production since 2020 and is finally set to be released on December 15.
