Karan Johar took to his social media handle to express his displeasure with the release date of Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi starrer Merry Christmas, which happens to clash with Sidharth Malhotra starter Yodha, produced by Johar. Merry Christmas, directed by Sriram Raghavan will release theatrically on December 15, the same day that Johar’s production Yodha is scheduled to release.
The director, who is currently busy with promotions of his film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, wrote on Threads "Clashing on a date without the courtesy of a phone call is hopefully not the way forward for the studios and producers …. If we don't stand united in these tough and challenging theatrical days then calling us a fraternity is futile…."
Yodha, bankrolled by Johar’s Dharma Productions stars Malhotra, Disha Patani and Raashi Khanna. The film was supposed to release on 7th July this year but the release date got pushed to September and then finally the 15th of December 2023. Merry Christmas which also faced several delays, is now scheduled to release on the same date.
