The much-awaited multi-starrer Karataka Damanaka is gearing up for release on March 8. The film stars both Dr Shivarajkumar and Prabhu Deva in lead roles and is directed by ace director Yograj Bhat. Bhat last directed 2023’s Garadi, which had a mediocre run at the box office. This would be the first time that Bhat would be directing Shivarajkumar in a film.
The makers of the film released a ‘character teaser’, which hints at Shivarajkumar and Prabhu Deva being con men who disguise themselves and enter a house. The two introduce themselves as Nagaraju and Basavaraju, names that they take from the photo frames they see at the house. Set in the Northern Karnataka region, the fast-paced caper film sees many of Yograj Bhat’s trademarks such as his razor-sharp wit in dialogues and absurdist premises.
The two seem to get closer to the family in the house, but they seem to be under suspicion. The teaser also hints at the two staging their deaths and returning to the house with other fake identities. The soundtrack has indicated that the title refers to two foxes from a folk tale.
Karataka Damanaka is directed by Yograj Bhat, who co-writes the film along with Vikas and Subramanya MK. The film is produced by Rockline Venkatesh under the Rockline Entertainments banner, and he also stars in a supporting role along with Priya Anand, Nishvika Naidu, Doddanna, and Tanikella Bharani. V Harikrishna handles the music while Santhosh Rai Pathaje cranks the camera.
