Minnal Murali Universe to undergo expansion- Producer teases Major Announcement

Minnal Murali (2021) captured the imagination of an entire nation when the film started streaming on Netflix. Starring Tovino Thomas in the titular role, the film tells the story of a young tailor who gets superpowers after being struck by lightning and transforms into a superhero.

Though the film was initially meant for a theatrical release, the pandemic forced its producers to release the movie on Netflix. However, this led to the film reaching a wider audience and getting appreciation from viewers around the world. 

The film’s producer Sophia Paul told The Indian Express in an interview, that there may soon be an expansion of the Minnal Murali universe. When asked if Minnal Murali has the potential to develop into a cinematic universe similar to Marvel, Paul said, “The success of Minnal Murali has opened up opportunities to take it further. Comics were one of them. Collaborating with Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media, Minnal Murali’s entry into the world of comics through Tinkle was announced at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego. And indeed, we have more plans for the Minnal Murali universe as well. Soon, we will have an announcement regarding one such project.”
