Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan starring Ranbir Alia and Yash to have a test shoot this month

Though there have been no official announcements yet about the cast of Nitesh’s Tiwari’s highly ambitious Ramayan adaptation, a report in Bollywood Hungama says that this big-budget live-action trilogy will see Ranbir Kapoor play the role of Ram, Alia Bhatt play Sita and Kannada superstar Yash play the role of Ravan. Co-producer Madhu Mantena has reportedly indicated that the film can go on floors as early as the last quarter of 2023.

As the team prepares to begin filming, pre-production is in full swing and a test shoot has been scheduled for July 28. A source close to the project has shared that look tests, set design and VFX requirements are all being finalised simultaneously. The source added, “ As an immediate step, the makers are putting up a small set in Filmcity, the construction of which has already begun. They are doing this to make sure that they get the look and feel of the set right. The test shoot is scheduled for the end of July, tentatively on July 28. However, it is yet unclear which actor will be a part of this exercise.”

Kapoor and Bhatt worked together for the first time in Ayan Mukherji’s Brahmastra while Yash was last seen in the hugely successful KGF 2 (2022) directed by Prashanth Neel.
