Rajkummar Rao: I’m in love with Chamkila, Watched it thrice’

In a recent interview with Film Companion, Rajkummar Rao praised Imtiaz Ali’s latest directorial Amar Singh Chamkila starring Diljit Dosanjh in the titular role alongside Parineeti Chopra. Praising Dosanjh and the film, Rao said,

“Chamkila I have seen thrice already, I’m in love with that film. Diljit and some of his moments, Pari [Parineeti Chopra] , is also great. Aatma nikal ke de diya usne (Diljit gave his soul to the film).”

Talking about Dosanjh’s as a person and the purity that he generates, Rao added, “He had also said in one of his podcasts. 2020 mein kuch toh huva hai which has changed him as a person, changed him for good, I’m glad it happened because bahot hi purity hain (there is a lot of purity in him). Chamkila, I think Amar Singh aur koi kar hi nahi sakta hai better than him. (No one can do Chamkila better than him) Sometimes you feel na, you see a film ki aree yaar kaash ye role mujhe milta but Chamkila dekh ke lagta hai ki nahi nahi aap hi ho, thank god aapko mila.” (sometimes you feel looking at a character that I could have played it better but watching the film you feel, he is the perfect fit for the role)

Chamkila is currently streaming on Netflix while Rao is gearing up for his upcoming film Srikanth and Mr and Mrs Mahi.
