In a recent media interaction, Ranvir Shorey opened up about his character DG from the streaming series Sunflower which is all set to star in season 2 of the whodunnit which also stars Sunil Grover playing the central character ‘Sonu’.
Talking about the USP of the show, Shorey said, “I think the USP of Sunflower is the sense of fun and mystery, and both play along simultaneously. You are watching a whodunnit, but it's also funny. So, it's a nice genre-bending story. I think people loved season 1 because the characters were fabulous, especially, we have Sunil Grover playing Sonu, the central character, and I don't think anybody could have played Sonu other than Sunil so beautifully.”
Speaking about playing the cop in the series, the actor revealed, “My own character, DG I think also complements the entire story nicely in the cat-and-mouse game that goes on. I get to play the cat with these huge eyes who is going down the rabbit hole of these weird characters in this society and their dynamics. I think my character is appreciated more as the foil to a lot of the comedy that happens in the series, and I enjoy doing that.”
He further added, “Not in every comedy or drama can you get to be the active person in a scene or character, and you need people to bounce off the comedy and the drama off also. So, I find that also quite challenging because for me, if a scene works, only then all the characters and the actors are working. Thankfully again, like I said, Vikas Sir has great talent as far as writing is concerned and he's really created these characters beautifully and he's really taking them on this fabulous journey which the audience will now also get to be a part of.”
Sunflower Season 2 will also star Adah Sharma with other actors reprising their roles from Season 1. Sunflower Season 2 premieres on Zee5 from March 1 onwards.
